donations for charityIf you are involved with a local charity organization in North Texas, you know how important- and challenging- fundraising can be. There are so many people in DFW making a difference, and InterSkate can help! Now that the holiday giving season is approaching, it is a great time to plan a fundraiser to benefit your favorite charity. Identify the purpose of the event

What is the purpose of your charity event? Is it to raise awareness, reach a new demographic, raise donations, or a combination of multiple goals?

Set a fundraising goal

Planning a successful event can get expensive if you don’t have a clear budget in mind. It’s important to know your fundraising goal so you can make wise decisions about where to allocate your resources and get the most bang for your buck. One of the benefits of hosting a roller skating fundraiser is the cost- our Lewisville skating rink can accommodate over 1,000 skaters and our private skating parties cost far less than most Dallas event venues.

Make it memorable

People have so many demands on their time and on their charity spending, so it’s important to make your event stand out from the crowd. A fun activity like roller skating is sure to get people in the door and put them in a good mood- always a smart way to get those checkbooks open and raise some money for your cause!

At What Age Can Kids Learn to Roller Skate?

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

kids roller skatingRoller skating is a timeless activity that never goes out of style. Many people have wonderful skating memories from childhood, so it only makes sense that they would want to pass it on to their kids! Here at our Lewisville skating rink we love providing a fun, affordable family outing that can be enjoyed by kids, teens, and adults. So how old should your child be before you introduce him or her to roller skating?

Theoretically, a child can learn to roller skate as young as two or three years old, but it depends largely on your child. Most kids have the ability and interest to start skating around the age of four or five. However, kids eight years old and younger should still have adult supervision at all times.

Tips for teaching your child to skate

  • Make sure your child has the coordination to stand on one foot for a few seconds at a time and to skip.
  • Start out by holding your child’s hand or holding your child up by the armpits while you follow behind.
  • Better yet, rent a skate mate. Our skate trainers lend your child a bit of stability while they learn the basics of skating and become more comfortable with the balancing and maneuvering.
  • We also offer roller skating lessons at our North Texas skating rink, and we even have a small skating area for little skaters and anyone who needs some practice space to get the basics down.
